You wish you could have contact with your relatives but can't because you dont choose to jump through the hoops to make it possible, and they are all slaves to the wrong ideals. You're friend found a way to reconcile his need to have family with his own choice of playing their games. That's his choice, its not a rejection of your thinking. Now if he shuns you, then you haven't lost anything really. Its his loss but then again I would take family over friends any day if it were a choice I was given. Perhaps he thinks he can do them some goog by being in proximity. Dont be so sensitive, its not worth it.

More pyramid nonsense
by FadeToBlack injoseph t. "judge" rutherford, a leader of the early jehovah's witness movement, was determined to put an end to the "christian pyramidology" espoused by his predecessor, charles taze russell.. rutherford wrote a two-part articleappearing in the november 15 and december 1, 1928 editions of the watch towertitled, "the altar in egypt," wherein he declared:.
it is certain that the pyramid of gizeh was not built by jehovah god; nor was it built at his command.
it is more reasonable to conclude that the great pyramid of gizeh, as well as the other pyramids thereabout, also the sphinx, were built by the rulers of egypt and under the direction of satan the devil.

Should we then ascribe to Satan the new light doctrine? It always starts out false and gets made accurate. How like the Satan that Joe knew!

Cream formed as a joke and made it big. Liver disease? Was he a drunk? or Hep C from needles? Good ol'rock and roll for a nice death.
Can't say "I'm so glad."

Awake! to be part of Watchtower Public Edition!
by Atlantis inthis was posted on a jw site and it would be nice if we could verify.. .. .. as of february 2015, the awake!
will come as a part of the watchtower public edition instead of as a separate magazine.
this is a huge change... with serious cost savings.

The translation seems to indicate that this is a shipping matter not a publishing matter. The two small mags will be sent together to the congregations instead of two seperate bundles. It refers to this arrangement already underway in the US. We know we do not have two mags in one issue in the US. It must be referring to how the public edition and the monthly Awake are delivered to the congregations. Someone translate this for us. Thanks.

I Was Asked To Perform A Marriage Ceremony But Don't Know I'm Qualified
by minimus inmy girlfriend's daughter and her fiancee asked me to marry them last night.
they live in connecticut and will be married in new york.
i felt honored that i was asked but i don't think i can do it because i am not a clergyman or minister and my u derstanding is that only clergy or judges and lawyers and justice of the peace can perform a wedding ceremony and marry a couple.. does anyone have any information on this subject?

Yeah Google!
Who can perform marriages in Connecticut?
This is an extremely important topic. Please confirm with your wedding officiant that they are legally authorized to join people in marriage in Connecticut. Authorized officiants include
- Justices of the Peace;
- Judges and retired judges;
- Family support magistrates;
- Ordained or licensed clergy who have an active ministry in addition to performing marriages;
- State referees.
If there is any doubt about your officiant being properly authorized, please consult the Town Clerk where the officiant resides. There is a Suggested Criteria Page for helping you choose an officiant. Alternative wedding officiants, such as Justices of the Peace, usually offer you the most options of all wedding officiants and have the fewest rules that you must follow.

stay informed there Minimus. Good luck.

is the big show on 1914 at Service Meeting evidence of factions in the GB?
by Wasanelder Once insometimes the gb do end runs around each other, as when freddie franz didn't agree with the whole governing body concept and spoke against it at the gilead graduation.
could this video/demonstration at the service meeting tonight on why they believe in 1914 and how to explain it to others be an effort to bolster that belief because there is a challange coming against it by factions within?
i guess we can't really tell but i wouldn't put it past the boneheads running the society.

Have you seen this sort of infighting in local congregations or are you aware of other examples of this sort of end run by GB on other ocassions? Historians, ex Bethelites c'mon down! Of course we have JF and his reading rainbow obliterating Russell, what else?

JW Info-Commercial Memorial Service
by William Penwell ini attended a jw memorial service about 2 years ago and the speaker i thought gave a good eulogy to the diseased even though he quoted a few scriptures.
just recently i attended another jw memorial and the sermon was about 10 minutes on the person and the rest a big info-commercial with a scripture quoted one after the other.
i did not keep count but i would think the speaker read about 10 - 12 scriptures.

A person I studied with died of a heart attack ten minutes into the public talk one Sunday. I gave a graveside talk for him. I had contacted his wife who was a witness by then. I gave a straightforward talk about him and who he was. Of course I used the condition of the dead scriptures and the ressurection, but I mentioned that he wasn't sure if that was so and we would all find out eventually. Man did I catch shit for that! lol
It was the hardest talk I ever had to give, I knew him well and liked his doubting nature. When one of the attendees came up and said "nice speech Pastor" I felt like an ass. One more nudge in the right direction. We all told ourselves we were not "religious like Christendom" when we were exactly the same thing.

An Elder said: 'They're in prison for a reason'
by NAVYTOWN inseveral years ago, i was studying the bible (jw literature) with an ms from the local congregation.
i happened to mention that i had several pen pals who were incarcerated in various prisons.
no matter what crimes they committed, i said i saw them as fellow human being who deserved to have a friend to write to.

When I was "Service Overseer" TM . I coordinated visits to the local prison. The best advice from the WT was that sisters should not write to male inmates, end of story. The inmates likely have family or friends of thier own. The scamming that went on is unbelievable. I have seen brothers and sisters taken for money. Let them do their time and when they are out and you can see what their actions are, then befriend them if you feel you need to. Sounds harsh but prison is for criminals. Life goes on for prisoners so dont panic.
